As I get more experience with Drupal, I'm finding that the one thing I really can't live without on a new site is the admin menu module, and its toolbar. The first thing I do after setting up a site now is this:

drush dl admin_menu
drush en admin_menu
drush en admin_menu_toolbar
drush dis toolbar

And also, Drush rules!
